my cactus goddess self

my cactus goddess self

In Monday’s Wonder of Watercolor class, I had a profound experience with a daffodil, in which I realized that as I studied and communed with the daffodil through my eyes and senses, my very essence was deeply effected by the flower’s essence.

The power of flowers and plants as guides, teachers and mirrors for us never ceases to amaze me. Yesterday I was feeling a bit prickly due to where I am in my cycle (learning so much through participating in the Blood Spiral work with my friend Roxie Hunt🩸🌀) and I started imagining myself as a cactus. Really, I felt very tender inside, but felt like I had this thorny keep-away energy emanating from me to try to have more space for myself.

I realized I had a cactus flower essence, so I had a few drops and then in a window of alone time painted these two cactus goddess self portraits. It felt so good to articulate how I was feeling, and to connect with the plant and the art process as a way to embody my state and accept the prickliness as a part of life and my Day 22 🩸🌀
