Somatics + Creativity

My true passion holds court at the intersection of the body, creativity and aliveness. Our creative flow is often in direct relationship with how life force flows through our bodies. When our body holds vigilance and unmetabolised emotions, events and experiences from our lives, we may often feel a sense of creative obstruction as well. As we begin to hold space and presence for our bodies to remember and release, we may find the creative impulse begins to melt and seek somewhere to flow, move and express.

My sessions are a space to welcome and invite this process. They are here especially if you have experienced a past wound around creativity and visual art in general. Many people have such wounds from early childhood and haven't touched art supplies since, or think it's not something that is available to them at all. The truth is, we all have a natural, intuitive gift with art as a form of emotional and energetic expression and release, we just don't know we do!

I find that working one-on-one with a somatic modality (such as the one I am training in, Somatic Experiencing™) utilizes my skills acquired as a bodyworker and Holistic Health Practitioner, but in a way that brings the healing power to the client's court. My attention and witnessing is like another form of bodywork, with your own awareness, breath and intuition being the "hands" of the session. Our bodies are wise alchemists, we just accumulate a lot of unmetabolized stuff that gets in the way of accessing our natural flow.

My sessions seek to resource you and provide tools and embodied practices which support you to remember the innate wisdom of your body. Integrating a gentle and simple art practice in the second half of the session gives the body a way to express what is being discovered, as well as provides a physical monument to the process, something you can look back upon to learn from and remember.

If you would like to hear me speak more about my sessions, you can watch this video here. Truly, no art experience is required or necessary. The art element is just part of what we explore, and you may find it to blossom as a cherished tool for you after we work together. I find the more regularly tended-to resources that we have, the more often we are able and willing to remember them when we truly need them.

I look forward to working with you and exploring how the modalities of somatics and creativity may be of support to you. Please feel free to glance at the list below of the trainings and life experiences which support my work.
